London's Stephen Redrobe is a gifted master and instructor of the violin who has had the good fortune of having been mentored by some of the finest violinists of the 20th century. In what some might consider to be a contrast to his prestigious classical musical training, Stephen is something of a rock musicologist. Among his favorite rock artists are such guitar-heavy acts as Deep Purple, Mountain, Spirit, Led Zeppelin and most certainly the Robin Trower Band. A glance at his video archive will clearly reveal that he is the keeper of the most extensive library of Live Robin Trower performances anywhere. Stephen has graciously agreed to enable these videos for our visitors to enjoy and below you will find a list of those that include the very gifted Mr. Dewar on vocals. Some include Jimmy on bass as well while others cover the brief period where the band added Rustee Allen on bass to free Jimmy for lead vocal duties exclusively. Thanks Stephen! CK

Below are Mr. Redrobe's comments for the site.

I first became aware of Trower when I saw him on the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1974. That was on a Wednesday night. The following Saturday, I, and half of my fifth-form classmates, went to the Virgin record shop to buy a copy of Bridge Of Sighs. I got a copy, but a number were disappointed and had to order a copy. One of my friends had the presence of mind - and the money - to also purchase a copy of Twice Removed From Yesterday. We listened to both albums at his home throughout the following summer and learnt a number of the songs, he on vocals, I on guitar.

I first saw Trower perform, with Dewar of course, at the Liverpool Stadium (not the famous football stadium, but the old boxing stadium) in 1975, on the very day that For Earth Below was released.

Best regards,

Stephen.

Each will send you to youtube and I suggest that you hit back on your browser to return to this page and click on the next link rather than trying to navigate the menus of youtube for these videos.
