Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame inductee , Sammy Hagar originally set out on a course much like that of Jimmy Dewar. Despite growing up in sunny Monterey, California (more than 5,000 miles from the bitter cold of Glasgow, Scotland) Sammy and Jimmy had quite a lot in common. Only five years younger than his Scottish counterpart, Sammy's voice would earn him superstar status in rock history. Sammy is a capable and confident guitarist as demonstrated by his willingness to play on the same stage with some of rock's finest guitar legends. Most significantly both men were intimately accustomed to sharing a stage with world-renowned guitarist/band leaders after whom their bands were named. This is where the similarities end.
Fortunately, Sammy has managed to thrive in a solo effort that has brought him great success and enjoyment not to mention numerous fruitful business entities. Sadly, Jimmy's solo career never really grew beyond a regional effort confined to the clubs of Scotland.

In 1974, the Orpheum in Boston, Massachusetts hosted a concert that featured Montrose with lead singer Sammy Hagar and The Robin Trower Band with Jimmy Dewar on bass and lead vocals.
This was an intense evening of rock and both bands rose to the very highest standards of the industry. Hoping that this concert may have provided an opportunity for Sammy and Jimmy to meet and/or witness each other's performance I am hopeful that Sammy may agree to contribute a few words in Jimmy's honor. If you are out there Mr. Hagar we would be honored to hear from you. CK
